Betzdorf/knowledge. Nine students in classes 6b and 6d of the Kopernikus high school in knowledge took part in a competition from the world shop in Betzdorf with great commitment. Under the guidance of Alexandra Studzinski-Simon, they designed banderoles for the fairly traded chocolates of the GEPA in art lessons and in their free time. They were awarded by Hermann Hesse and Andreas Neuser from the Betzdorfer Weltladen for their efforts. In recognition, the students – of course – received fairly traded chocolate.

During the design of the Banderoles, the students dealt intensively with the topic of “fair trade”. They realized that the purchase of fair -traded chocolate is not only a pleasure without a guilty conscience, but should also make a contribution to climate protection and to secure a fair income for cocoa farmers. On the Banderoles, slogans such as “Chocolate pussy begins with fair prices” and “saves the earth to read the only planet with chocolate”.

Fair traded products also play a role at the Knowledge Gymnasium. They are sold there in the school’s own environmental shop. The Gymnasium is also part of the ESD schools in Rhineland-Palatinate. BNE stands for education for sustainable development.

The designed banderoles can currently be seen in the shop window of the world shop in Betzdorf. (PM/red)
