(Central News Agency, Kyiv, comprehensive foreign news report on the 7th) Ukraine’s “Kyiv Independent” obtained Russian leakage documents showing that China has been purchasing Russian arms through secret channels since 2022, aiming to strengthen the combat capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army’s airborne troops used to invade Taiwan.
According to leaked Russian communications documents reviewed by The Kyiv Independent, more than a month after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Russian government received an arms purchase request from China.
These documents show that the Beijing authorities proposed to purchase a set of weapons and armored vehicles for airborne troops from Russia. The request number is ZH2022-Y53, and the date of receipt is April 7, 2022.
According to these documents, Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) three weeks later instructed Rosoboronexport to demonstrate airdroppable Russian combat vehicles to a Chinese delegation. The company is the state-owned enterprise responsible for all Russian arms exports.

Rosepolon Export Company then began to prepare for the reception. A year later, the Chinese delegation arrived in Moscow in April 2023. The meeting was one of many between China and Russia that led to a number of Sino-Russian military contracts signed after the Russo-Ukrainian war.
The deals reportedly bring benefits to sanctioned Russian arms dealers as they export weapons to China. China will receive weapons and equipment in return for use by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army airborne troops. The force continues to strengthen its combat capabilities in anticipation of a possible attack on Taiwan. (Compiled by: Chen Zhengjian) 1141207
