Charlize Theron didn’t hold back at her fifth annual block party for the Charlize Theron africa Outreach Project, expressing strong opinions about Jeff Bezos and his recent wedding. The event, which supports the health and safety of young people in Africa, took place Saturday night.
“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding,” Theron told event attendees at the Universal studios backlot, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “But that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool.”
Following her remark about the Amazon founder’s wedding in Venice, Italy, Theron thanked attendees for their participation, acknowledging the pressing global issues.
“Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S.and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast,” Theron said. “Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women’s rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn’t just policy, it’s personal.”
According to THR, the crowd applauded, and she added: “Yeah, fuck them.”
“Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families… women’s rights are becoming less and less every day.”
Theron’s comments come amid growing concerns about various social and political issues. She emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges and supporting vulnerable communities.
Bezos’ presence at President Donald Trump’s inauguration alongside other tech leaders like Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s Tim Cook and Tesla’s Elon Musk has previously drawn criticism.
