Cannabis Use & Increased Risk: What You Need to Know

Data from 2004 to 2024 from 74,642 patients diagnosed with cannabis dependence and 4,709,585 controls without this diagnosis were analyzed. Taking into account various established risk factors, including tobacco smoking, the risks of the two groups for bladder, kidney, prostate, testicular and penile cancer as well as cancer in the upper urinary tract were determined and compared. It found that in people with cannabis addiction the risk of bladder cancer was 4.21-fold, the risk of kidney cancer was 3.7-fold and the risk of prostate cancer was 2.22-fold increased.
