British Council Launches 2024 Connections Through Culture Grant Programme

The British Council has unveiled the recipients of its highly anticipated Connections Through Culture (CTC) Grant Programme for 2024. This prestigious initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties between the United Kingdom and the Asia-Pacific region.

Four Bangladeshi Projects Secure Funding

This year, four collaborative projects from Bangladesh will receive substantial funding, alongside 80 other innovative initiatives throughout the Asia-Pacific. These projects represent a significant investment in creativity and cultural diplomacy.

Expanding Across South Asia

The 2024 grant cycle marks a notable expansion as it now includes South Asian countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Previously, the program focused on Australia, New Zealand, and several Southeast Asian nations. This expansion underscores the British Council’s commitment to fostering closer ties and cultural understanding through the arts.

Generous Funding for Creative Projects

The CTC grant programme will allocate over Tk 11 crore across the Asia-Pacific region. Of this amount, more than Tk 60 lakh will be dedicated to initiatives involving Bangladeshi artists and cultural organizations. This funding will enable these creatives to bring their visions to life and contribute to meaningful cultural exchanges.

A Spectrum of Artistic Disciplines

Grantees hail from a diverse range of artistic fields, including film, creative technology, literature, visual arts, theatre, dance, design, fashion, craft, and music. This diversity ensures that the programme tackles a broad spectrum of global challenges such as diversity and inclusion, as well as climate change.

Impactful Initiatives Addressing Challenges

The collaborative efforts across borders and disciplines aim to spark new ideas and address pressing issues of our time. These initiatives not only showcase the power of cross-cultural collaboration but also demonstrate the potential for the arts to drive positive change.

Words from the British Council

“We are thrilled to announce our 2024 grantees, whose initiatives showcase the incredible potential of cross-cultural collaboration,” said Sadia Rahman, Head of Arts at the British Council Bangladesh. “These partnerships celebrate the richness of artistic exchange while tackling some of the most pressing issues of our time. We look forward to seeing the transformative impact of these initiatives as they come to life.”
