Bordeaux Aircraft Prototype Testing – ACTU AERO

by Archynetys News Desk

The Falcon 10X program reaches a decisive milestone. The prototype of Dassault Aviation’s new very long-range private jet is now fully assembled and has appeared on the Bordeaux-Mérignac site.

Equipped with its engine nacelles, the aircraft was observed last Wednesday with its beacon and its APU on, a sign of the systems being activated. This is the first appearance of the prototype, currently in the static testing phase.

Towards a first flight expected soon

According to our information, the Falcon 10X could make its first flight in the coming weeks. Before taking to the air, the aircraft will have to go through the paint shop in order to receive the manufacturer’s official livery. It remains to be seen whether this inaugural flight will be able to take place before the end of the year or more likely in the first weeks of 2026.

A cabin designed for comfort and brightness

Developed since 2018, the Falcon 10X is distinguished by an entirely new fuselage and a cabin designed to offer unprecedented comfort. With 38 ultra-large windows, the device promises to be the brightest in its category.

Its dimensions – 2.03 m high and 2.77 m wide – make it possible to divide the space into four zones of equal length, offering unprecedented layout flexibility for passengers.

Motorization and performance

The jet is powered by the Rolls-Royce Pearl® 10X, the most powerful of the Pearl series, delivering more than 18,000 pounds (80 kN) of thrust. This engine, the development of which required prolonged testing, largely explains the shift in the schedule.

Thanks to this engine, the Falcon 10X will have a range of 13,890 km (7,500 nm), allowing non-stop connections to destinations such as New York – Shanghai, Los Angeles – Sydney, Hong Kong – New York or Paris – Santiago. Its maximum speed will reach Mach 0.925, placing it at the top of its class.

A direct competitor in the private jet market

Positioned opposite the Bombardier Global 7500 (entered service in 2018) and the Gulfstream G700 (entered service in 2024), the Falcon 10X aims to establish itself in the ultra-long-haul private jet segment. In 2021, its list price was set at $75 million, confirming its high-end positioning.

Initially scheduled for the end of 2025, the program’s entry into service was pushed back to 2027, mainly due to the development of the Rolls-Royce Pearl® 10X engine.
