The Barahona Judo Association has reaffirmed its prominent position in the Dominican Republic’s judo scene by securing a resounding victory at the VI Miguel caro Judo Cup. The tournament,a significant event in the national judo calendar,saw Barahona’s athletes outperforming their rivals across various weight categories,solidifying their status as a powerhouse in the sport.

The Judo invitational, hosted at the Sports complex of Villa Central Barahona, served as a dual celebration, commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Barahona judo Association.the event also paid tribute to the central sugar consortium, acknowledging their support for the sport’s development in the region. The competition provided a platform for judokas from across the country to showcase their skills and compete for top honors.

Barahona’s judokas demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, amassing an impressive medal count. The team secured a total of 16 gold, six silver, and 14 bronze medals, accumulating a total of 1,674 points. This dominant performance left their competitors trailing considerably behind. In comparison, Judo Naco club, which secured second place, only managed 311 points, earned through three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
