On March 13, 2026 at around 6:20 p.m. there was a traffic accident with personal injuries on Federal Highway 20. According to initial findings, the 54-year-old driver of a Grand Cherokee car was driving on the BAB20 in the direction of Berlin. Between the Friedland and Strasburg junctions there was a technical defect in a tire of the car, so that the driver lost control of the car, veered off the road to the right and rolled over several times. Eventually the vehicle came to rest in the shoulder on the roof. In addition to the driver, there was also a 54-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy in the car. All three inmates were seriously injured and taken to the hospitals in Neubrandenburg and Greifswald. There were three police radio patrol cars, two emergency doctors, a rescue helicopter, three ambulances and 31 comrades from the volunteer fire departments from Groß Miltzow, Golm and Woldegk as well as a towing company and the highway maintenance department on site. The BAB20 had to be completely closed for 4 hours while the traffic accident was recorded, the rescue measures were carried out and the road was cleaned. There was an estimated property damage of 50,000 euros. All those involved are German citizens.
