JALTA – During a relaxing day by the sea,Gita Lozovaya,a twenty-year-old nursing student,encountered a scene reminiscent of a surreal film. “I had a day free from college and I decided to make a picnic on the beach with a freind,” she said. Along the coast of Jalta, a seaside town on the southern coast of the crimea peninsula, she found an unexpected sight: A blue car transformed into a real aquarium full of fish. “We walked on the beach when we saw this car. Inside they swim beautiful fish, it looked like a living aquarium,” she recounted.

Intrigued, Lozovaya learned that the aquatic art installation had been in place for seven years. “They told me that the inside of the car was completely covered with a special mixture which prevents the formation of rust,” she explained. “They assured me that it is absolutely safe for fish.” After posting a video on TikTok, the car-aquarium quickly went viral, amassing over 4 million views in a matter of hours. «The next day, while I was studying, my phone began to go crazy. I received hundreds of notifications: everyone was fascinated ».

The TikTok video sparked a range of reactions. One user joked, “It’s dangerous, fish could learn to drive.” Another commented, “Marine biologist here: maybe it’s not the best, but it is better than those bowls from Walmart who buy to children.” Inside the vintage car,the pedals,gearbox,and handles had been removed,but the steering wheel,seats,and headlights remained. According to Gita, the roof opens to allow aquarium staff to clean and feed the fish, which are primarily colorful koi.

Despite some lighthearted skepticism, the initiative has largely been met with amazement and appreciation. “It’s better than I expected.I never imagined finding something like that during a simple picnic,” concluded Gita.
