US President Donald Trump is again refusing to rule out a third term – despite the law only allowing two.
In January, Trump began his second term in the White House. Thus, he cannot run in the next US presidential election in 2028, but despite this, he and his supporters have repeatedly hinted that this may happen.
Recently, red caps with the text “Trump 2028” were seen in photos taken during a meeting in the Oval Office. Aboard Air Force One en route to Japan on Monday, Trump gave a hovering response when a reporter asked him if he planned to run again.
– I would love to do it. I have the best numbers ever, he said according to ABC News.
Later in the same interview, which has been published in its entirety by the White House, the president turns around and says he will not run.
– I wouldn’t do it, says Donald Trump.
He says he doesn’t think people would like it and that it “wouldn’t be right”.
Throughout the year, Donald Trump has given conflicting statements on the question of whether he intends to run for another presidential election, in violation of the constitution.
