President of the United States (US) Donald Trump welcomed the arrival of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House, USA. Their meeting in order to negotiate the possibility of Ukraine’s peace agreement with Russia.
Reported AFPTuesday (8/19/2025), the meeting of Trump and Zelensky was held on Monday local time.
“We love them,” Trump told reporters when asked what his message was to the people of Ukraine after shaking Zelensky’s hand.

He also praised the elegant Black Zelensky jacket, after the Ukraine man was criticized by the right wing media for not wearing a suit during a visit in February which ended in an argument.
Trump Opens Opportunities to Unite Putin-Zelensky’s Meeting
US President Donald Trump opened the possibility of a trilateral meeting with his partner, Ukraine led by Volodymyr Zelensky, with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said the meeting was aimed at ending the War of Ukraine and Russia.
“We will hold a meeting. I think if everything goes smoothly today (Trump’s meeting with Zelensky), we will hold trilateral and I think there will be a natural opportunity to end the war when we do it,” Trump said, sitting with Zelensky in the White House.
Zelensky thanked Trump for hosting the conversation, which would be expanded to involve European leaders in the future.
“Thank you for the invitation and thank you very much for your efforts, your personal efforts to stop the murder and stop this war,” he said.
