The Latin Recording Academy will recognize Spanish singer RAPHAEL (Linares, Jaén, 82 years old) as its Person of the Year in November, honoring his six-decade career as “a true ambassador of latin music worldwide.” The award will be presented at a gala and concert on November 12 in Las Vegas, during Latin Grammy week.

From a young age, RAPHAEL demonstrated a passion for singing. At age 4, he discovered his calling, and at 9, he received the Best Child Voice Award in Europe at the Salzburg Festival. In 1966 and 1967, he represented Spain at the Eurovision Festival with the songs I am that and let’s talk about love, which boosted his international profile. In 1970, he performed on The Ed Sullivan Show. Throughout his career, RAPHAEL has interpreted a vast musical catalog, largely written by MANUEL Alejandro and José Luis Perales. His most recognized songs include Say what they say, What nobody knows, and Scandal.
