Eduardo Scarpetta 100: Mural & Naples Cultural Revival

Mariconda celebrates Eduardo Scarpetta: urban art and theater for the cultural regeneration of the neighborhood

The Mariconda neighborhood was the protagonist of a day dedicated to urban art and theatre, marked by the inauguration of the mural in homage to Eduardo Scarpettaa symbolic figure of the Italian theatrical tradition.

The work represents not only an intervention of significant artistic and cultural value, but also a concrete sign of relaunch and regeneration for an area that over the years has often experienced marginal conditions and which today is starting to rediscover itself as a protagonist thanks to the shared commitment of citizens, associations and institutions. The mural is part of a broader journey urban and social redevelopmentaimed at restoring beauty, identity and attractiveness to the city’s neighborhoods, making them alive and participatory again.

The initiative is part of the project “Eduardo Scarpetta 100: Culture, Theater and Innovation”promoted by Erre Erre Eventi ETS and created thanks to the contribution of Campania region within the scope of LR 7/2003 – Plan for Cultural Promotion 2025with the support of the Municipality of Salerno, the Carisal Foundation and the Mariconda Neighborhood Committee.

The project is promoted by Erre Erre Eventi ETSrepresented by Augustus Rosary e Roberto Jannelliand is part of a cultural journey already started by the same association with the creation of the mural dedicated to Salvatore Di Giacomo in Naples, confirming a project line oriented towards enhancing the cultural and theatrical identity of the territories through public art interventions.

The role of the Mariconda Neighborhood Committeein the person of the president Vincenzo Cilentoand the creative contribution of the artists Giuseppe De Martino (AMED) e Daniele Santoro (FLO), authors of the works together with their respective collaborators.

A heartfelt thanks is also addressed to Palazzo Torino condominiumfor the availability and collaboration demonstrated, which allowed the realization of the artistic intervention on the facade of the building, contributing in a concrete way to the process of urban and cultural valorization of the neighborhood.

Il first muralmonumental and permanent, created on the facade of a building via Aniello Turinis dedicated to Eduardo Scarpetta and is signed by the artist from Salerno Giuseppe De Martino (AMED).

Il second muralof a temporary nature, was created within Villa Bracciante and is curated by the artist and graphic designer Daniele Santoro (FLO)with the artistic supervision of the Collaterart associationchaired by Fabio Avella.

The two works are configured as one visual story of moments of theatreconceived as a tool for artistic experimentation and cultural participation, in direct dialogue with the urban context and with the neighborhood community.

They took part in the inauguration numerous residents and citizenstogether with the representatives of the municipal administration: the municipal councilors Fabio Polverinoamong the promoters of the initiative, Alessandra Franzese e Gianluca Memolithe President of the Carisal Foundation Mimmo Credendinoas well as the regional councilor Luca Casconedemonstrating an increasingly necessary institutional synergy between the territory and public administrations.

Also present are the prof. Vincenzo Marrafor a contribution of cultural and historical contextualization, the maestro Gaetano Stella and the actress Elena Parmensewho enriched the initiative with cultural interventions and moments of re-enactment of the scenic tradition.

They were also carried out during the morning creative entertainment activities aimed at younger peoplethe care of Lolly Eventi strengthening the participatory and inclusive character of the project. The association was present at the event Public Green Volunteering Salerno ODVwhich guaranteed assistance with its volunteers, supported by Ecozoophile guards ANPANA Salerno.

The inauguration of the mural dedicated to Eduardo Scarpetta represents the first piece of a structured cultural journeywhich aims to make public art and theater instruments of urban regeneration, social cohesion and enhancement of the identity of places.
The initiative confirms how the culture and public art can constitute concrete tools of social cohesion and urban regenerationcapable of strengthening the bond between places and communities.
