B192 shut Down After chain Reaction Collision

A meaningful traffic incident occurred on the B192 highway near Penzlin earlier today, resulting in injuries and substantial traffic delays. The accident, involving six vehicles, prompted a temporary closure of the federal road and required the intervention of emergency services, including a rescue helicopter.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Collision

According to initial reports, the incident unfolded at approximately 4:15 p.m. A tractor traveling towards Penzlin caused a buildup of traffic. Vehicles behind the tractor slowed and came to a complete stop. Unfortunatly, the driver of a van, reportedly distracted, failed to brake in time, initiating a chain reaction collision. The van impacted four vehicles ahead, and subsequently, another car collided wiht the rear of the van, exacerbating the situation.

Injuries and Emergency Response

The multi-vehicle collision resulted in injuries to four individuals. While three sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, one person required further medical attention and was transported to the Neubrandenburg Clinic for treatment.The prompt response of rescue services, including the deployment of a rescue helicopter and two ambulances, ensured that the injured received timely care.

Economic Impact and Road Closure

Authorities estimate the total damage resulting from the accident to be around 30,000 euros. One of the cars was rendered inoperable and required recovery. The B192 was temporarily closed for approximately one hour to facilitate rescue operations and clear the wreckage, causing significant traffic congestion in the area.
