Eighth-year students from the San Alfonso Redemptorist School, located in Alajuela, had a challenge in music lessons: composing a song using new technologies and digital skills.
Elio Meléndez, music teacher, challenged the young people to be inspired by school, their daily lives, and this is how Angie Valeria Reyes was inspired by the yucca cake served in the student cafeteria, established in the menu manual for high school, youth and adult student cafeterias.
The students used platforms such as Suno that works with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and they gave instructions on the topic. As part of the work, the young people had to write an essay justifying the topic.
Angie commented that she was inspired by the cafeteria and yucca cake that they prepare in the cafeteria because it is really delicious.
Elizabeth Arias, cook at the institution, expressed her joy because this means that she is a satisfied client and that it inspires them to continue cooking with love and it is the first time that they are the creators of inspiration for young people.
Arias says that when they make the yucca cake, they will listen to the song to continue motivating themselves and work as they always do: with love and security.
Angie’s project got the most attention, but her classmates also created songs about bathrooms, math in the Trap, the lack of a gym, exam week, and school spirit.
In this way, this teacher seeks to make classes more attractive, dynamic and modern by involving digital skills with daily life.
