YouTube TV Expansion: New Genre Packages Coming 2026

by drbyos

YouTube TV is fundamentally changing its subscription model. At the beginning of 2026, the streaming service will introduce more than ten new, topic-specific packages – including a comprehensive range of sports.

In the future, users should be able to put together their subscriptions more flexibly and cheaply. YouTube TV is responding to the desire for more choice and lower entry-level prices. In addition to the well-known basic package with over 100 channels, there will in future be independent packages for sports, news, entertainment and kids & family. The company emphasizes that this allows customers to decide more specifically what content they need.

A key new offer is the “YouTube TV Sports Plan”. According to the official announcement, it includes the major US broadcasters as well as sports channels such as FS1, NBC Sports Network and all ESPN networks including ESPN Unlimited. Optional add-ons such as the NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone remain available. Features like unlimited cloud DVR, multiview and highlight features are still standard.

As expected, some high-profile sports rights from other platforms, such as “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon or MLS and Formula 1 on Apple TV, are left out.

YouTube has not yet announced prices or a complete list of channels. However, this information will be decisive in determining how attractive the new packages are compared to the previous $82.99 basic tariff. However, it is already known that following the recent agreement with Disney, selected Disney channels will be integrated into the genre packages. In addition, the basic package should have access to all ESPN content including ESPN Unlimited until the end of 2026.
