This reversal of politics represents a victory for the conservative allies of American president Donald Trump, who accuse the online platforms of having a left -handed bias.

YouTube is preparing to reintegrate creators hitherto banned from the platform for having disseminated erroneous information on the COVID-19 and the US elections, according to a letter sent by the parent company Alphabet Tuesday to a republican legislator.

This reversal of politics represents a victory for the conservative allies of the American president Donald Trump, who have long been accusing online platforms and professional information verifiers of having a left -handed bias and of using the policies to combat disinformation as a pretext to censor.

Pass advertising

“In accordance with the company’s commitment to freedom of expression, Youtube will offer all creators the possibility of returning to the platform if the company has removed their channels for repeated violations of policies relating to COVVI-19 and the integrity of the elections, policies that are no longer in force”said Alphabet’s legal adviser in a five-page letter to Jim Jordan, republican president of the Judicial Commission of the Chamber of Representatives of the United States.

“YouTube attaches importance to conservative voices”

“YouTube attaches importance to conservative voices on its platform and recognizes that these creators have a large audience and play an important role in the civic debate”said the mail again, without specifying which creators will be affected or when they can return.

In recent years, the deputy director of FBI Dan Bongino, the head of the fight against terrorism at the White House Sebastian Gorka or the host of Podcast Steve Bannon were among the banned people of Youtube, according to the American media.

Biden administration pressure

In the letter, Alphabet also accuses the administration of former president Joe Biden of having “Pressing the business” so that it imposes these prohibitions. In this case, the Biden administration had urged the platforms to delete what it considered as false and harmful information, such as content encouraging to ingest bleach to cure covid-19, a theory taken up by Donald Trump.

Jim Jordan, attentive to this question for several years, praised the announcement of Alphabet on X as a “Victory in the fight against censorship”. “No one will tell Americans anymore what they have to believe or not believe”he added.

Pass advertising

After buying Twitter, renamed X, in 2022, the American billionaire Elon Musk had also allowed reintegration on the social network of accounts conveying disinformation.
