Hundreds of young musicians are preparing to grace the stage at the Victoria Hall this June as part of a special concert series by the City Music Service, marking Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary with a party of youth and talent.

“The Big Sing” is scheduled for Wednesday 4 June and Tuesday 10 June, featuring performances from Key Stage 1 (City Songbirds) and Key Stage 2 (City Voices) pupils. Audiences can expect a repertoire of well-known songs performed by school choirs, accompanied by City Music Service ensembles.

Instrumentalists from primary and secondary schools will be in the spotlight during “The Big Play” on Wednesday 11 June. The event includes both morning and afternoon sessions, offering a platform for young musicians to perform together.

These performances are part of the City Music Service’s annual concert program, which is run by the local council and highlights the skills of young musicians and singers in the city. The service collaborates with local schools each week to provide musical education to over 10,000 children and young people aged two to 18.

Councillor Sarah Jane Colclough, cabinet member for children’s services, commented: “What better way to mark our city’s Centenary than by celebrating its future through music? The Big Sing and Big Play offer a joyful, inspiring showcase of the talent, dedication and creativity of our young people.”

“These concerts are always very popular, and I’d encourage families to book early and come along to support the next generation of Stoke-on-Trent’s musicians,” added Councillor Colclough.
