Young Boy Killed in Terror Attack Targeting Jerusalem Bus: A Tragedy in the Ongoing Conflict

A young boy, 12-year-old Yehoshua Aharon Tuvia Simha, tragically lost his life in a terror attack targeting a Jerusalem-bound bus in the West Bank on December 11, 2024. Three others were injured in the shooting, including a woman with moderate wounds and two others with light injuries.

The incident occurred at a junction near the Palestinian town of al-Khader. The bus was shot at, before proceeding to the Tunnels Checkpoint where security forces arrived.

The Palestinian terrorist responsible for the shooting, Ezz Aldin Malluh from the town of Bayt Awa near Hebron, surrendered to Israeli authorities. This came amidst a significant military buildup in the Bethlehem area, according to the IDF, Shin Bet, and police.

Authorities clarified that Malluh was not afforded protection by Palestinian security forces at any stage.

A video captured shortly after the shooting shows passengers fleeing the bus as security forces rushed towards it amidst gunfire.

This tragedy comes amidst a surge in violence in the West Bank since the Gaza war started on October 7, 2023. Since then, 42 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Six security personnel have also been killed in clashes with operatives during a major counterterrorism offensive.

Israeli troops have arrested over 5,250 wanted Palestinians, including more than 2,050 affiliated with Hamas.

This latest attack underscores the ongoing conflict’s devastating impact, leaving families grieving and communities traumatized. It serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for peaceful solutions and a lasting end to the violence.
