The Yangwang U9, the electric supercar from BYD, is already a formidable machine. Its standard version boasts four electric motors producing a combined 960 kW (1,287 hp) and 1,680 Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds, with a top speed of 309 km/h.Equipped with an 80 kWh LFP battery, it supports charging speeds up to 500 kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in a mere 10 minutes. The BYD Group’s flagship even holds a speed record at the Nürburgring, clocking in at 7 minutes and 17.9 seconds. However, BYD isn’t content with the status quo.

According to documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry, BYD is developing an even more potent version: the U9 Track Edition. This model aims to surpass existing electric hypercars like the Rimac Nevera (1,914 hp) and the Lotus Evija (1,972 hp). The Yangwang U9 Track Edition will reportedly boost the output of each of its four electric motors to 555 kW,resulting in a total system output of 2,220 kW – equivalent to a staggering 3,119 hp. The challenge, of course, lies in effectively transferring this power to the road, likely relying on advanced aerodynamics to generate the necessary downforce.

Yangwang will increase the performance of each of the four electric motors to 555 kW, which means a system 2,220 kW, or if you want a crazy 3,119 hp.

To that end,the U9 Track Edition is expected to feature an adjustable front splitter and an active rear aerodynamic wing. The focus will be not only on achieving maximum speed but also on enhancing acceleration and stability. It is indeed widely anticipated that BYD will once again target the Nürburgring, seeking to break its own record. The vehicle incorporates a Disus-X system, which actively adjusts the car’s body position and wheel traction, despite its considerable weight of 2,630 kg. The U9 Track Edition is poised to make a important statement for BYD.
