The Yangwang U9, the electric supercar from BYD, is already a formidable machine. Its standard version boasts four electric motors producing a combined 960 kW (1,287 hp) and 1,680 Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds, with a top speed of 309 km/h.Equipped with an 80 kWh LFP battery, it supports charging speeds up to 500 kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in a mere 10 minutes. The BYD Group’s flagship even holds a speed record at the Nürburgring, clocking in at 7 minutes and 17.9 seconds. However, BYD isn’t content with the status quo.

According to documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry, BYD is developing an even more potent version: the U9 Track Edition. This model aims to surpass existing electric hypercars like the Rimac Nevera (1,914 hp) and the Lotus Evija (1,972 hp). The Yangwang U9 Track Edition will reportedly boost the output of each of its four electric motors to 555 kW,resulting in a total system output of 2,220 kW – equivalent to a staggering 3,119 hp. The challenge, of course, lies in effectively transferring this power to the road, likely relying on advanced aerodynamics to generate the necessary downforce.
