On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, users in the EEA (European Economic Area) and the United Kingdom lost access to services from Yahoo! JAPAN. The company cited difficulties in maintaining a consistent service surroundings within those regions as the primary reason for the discontinuation.

The announcement stated that “Yahoo! JAPAN’s services are no longer available to our users in the EEA (European Economic Area) and the United Kingdom, as it has been resolute by Yahoo! JAPAN that providing a continuous service environment in these regions woudl be challenging.”

However, the company clarified that all Yahoo! JAPAN services remained accessible from Japan.”Please note that all Yahoo! JAPAN services are accessible after this date if access is made from Japan,” the statement read.

yahoo! JAPAN apologized for any inconvenience caused by the change. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding,” the company stated.

Services still Available

Despite the general discontinuation, some services remained available in the affected regions after April 6, 2022. Details regarding specific services and potential restrictions were provided,with a note that some Yahoo! JAPAN Mail functions would be limited.
