Brescia started strong, gaining an early six-point lead, but Trieste’s Valentine helped to close the gap, with Uthoff further reducing the deficit. The first quarter ended with Brescia leading by a single point, 16-15.

Valentine, brooks, and Brown then spearheaded an 11-0 run for Trieste, interrupted by Burnell and Cournooh from Brescia. A three-pointer from Valentine and another from Brown extended Trieste’s lead to eight points. At halftime, Trieste held a 44-38 advantage.
