Xiaomi 16 Pro Prepares to Switch to a Flat Screen

The Xiaomi 15 Pro, released in 2024, featured a 6.73-inch curved screen, offering a premium feel.However, curved screens can present challenges, such as difficulty in applying screen protectors and accidental edge touches. The shift to a flat screen in the Xiaomi 16 Pro aims for a simpler, more user-friendly design.

Specifications suggest the Xiaomi 16 Pro will feature a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED screen with 2K+ resolution, similar to the 16 ultra model. It is also expected to utilize the Snapdragon 8 ELITE 2 chipset from Qualcomm.

The Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro are rumored to feature an upgraded 50MP front camera with an ultra-wide lens, autofocus, and 4K@60FPS video recording capabilities. This is an upgrade from the previous 32MP camera without autofocus. Sources suggest the camera performance will surpass that of the iPhone.
Reports also indicate that Xiaomi may introduce sub-models, such as the Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini with a 6.3-inch screen, alongside the standard 6.8-inch Xiaomi 16 Pro. Both models are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and a 50MP main camera, with the Mini variant featuring a 6,300mAh battery.
The Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro are expected to launch in China around September or October 2025, while the Ultra model is anticipated in the first half of 2026.
