Worst Drinks for Vascular Health | Doctor’s Advice

by Archynetys Health Desk

Vascular neurosurgeon Victor Hugo Espíndola stated that drinks consumed frequently at parties and vacation periods can pose a high risk to vascular health. According to him, the damage affects arteries, veins and vessels in the brain, increasing the likelihood of thrombosis, heart attack and stroke.

The doctor highlighted that sugary alcoholic beverages, such as drinks, cocktails and energy drink mixes, are among the most harmful. The combination of alcohol with a high sugar load favors inflammatory processes, increases insulin resistance, contributes to abdominal obesity and changes in cholesterol, in addition to increasing the risk of atherosclerosis in arteries in the neck and brain.

Espíndola also warned that energy drinks mask the sedative effects of alcohol, which can lead to greater consumption without the person noticing signs of intoxication. For individuals with a history of stroke or risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, atrial fibrillation and carotid artery problems, he stated that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption, in line with the position of the World Health Organization.
