On Saturday, Latvian basketball player Noa Viliamsons scored in the first division match of the National Collegiate Sports Association (NCAA) and helped the University of Alabama “Crimson Tide” team defeat the prestigious “Wildcats” team of the University of Kentucky with 89:74.
University of Alabama starting center Aiden Sherrell was injured six minutes into the first half and did not return to the game. Williamson played in his place, scoring ten points (2p. 5/7; 3p. 0/1; sm 0/1) and grabbing four rebounds in 18 minutes. The Latvian center also had two assists, two interceptions, one blocked shot and one note.
Aden Holloway was the top scorer with 26 points for the winners, while Otega Ove and Jelend Love scored 22 and 21 points for the opponents, respectively.
It should be recalled that the 23-year-old Williamson represented the Bucknell University “Bison” team for the previous three seasons, but this summer he moved to the University of Alabama, whose basketball team is one of the strongest in the entire NCAA. So far, Williamson has played a small role for the Crimson Tide.
The University of Alabama is fourth in the Southeastern Conference with 11 wins in 14 games.
