Will Ferrell is quite used to inventing sports performances. Those who pay close attention to baseball will remember that ten years ago, on March 13, 2015, he played for 10 MLB teams on the same day. Really: in that period half of the teams are in pre-season training camp in Arizona and have fields a few kilometers from each other. He appeared in 5 different matchdays and played an innings for all 10 teams.
Plus he’s a huge fan of the Los Angeles Kings of hockey. He is a season ticket holder, his seat is right behind the team bench. Last year during the holidays he showed up at a game dressed as Elffamous character from one of his films. That is, as Santa’s elf, just grown up a little too much.
Evidently he wants to make the disguise a sort of Christmas tradition: last night for Kings-Tampa Bay Lightning he lined up at the edge of the ice, behind the glass, fully dressed as a referee. Complete with a helmet. And he started calling all the fouls. So that he was more popular on the big screens than the match.
Then it happened that the Kings lost 3-5. But the fans still had fun with his calls
