This Tuesday, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, launched a new feature that makes it possible to translate messages in the favorite languages of any utizer, whether in individual conversations, groups or even chain messages, according to a press release from the company.
How to activate this feature? Press the message for a long time, select “Translate”, then select the departure language or the language to translate. Android users can initially translate towards and from English, Spanish, Indian, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, while iPhone users can translate to and for more than 19 languages.
Android phones users can also activate the automatic conversation translation option to translate all incoming messages.
Although this feature does not offer an instant translation like many other applications, it could facilitate communication between the billions of WhatsApp users around the world.
Finally, note that WhatsApp plans to extend the number of languages supported by translation in the future.
