The latest Android beta of WhatsApp reveals the upcoming arrival of a feature that all parents are waiting for: the ability to control your child’s interactions on messaging. The application will allow you to create a secondary account for your child linked to their main account, giving access to several protection settings.

A few weeks ago, we learned some big news for WhatsApp users: the application is finally preparing to allow multi-accounts. This feature will offer several benefits, the most obvious being the ability to switch from one number to another without having to log out of WhatsApp or use another smartphone, a historical limitation of messaging, but that’s not all.
Having several WhatsApp accounts on your phone means that it will also be possible to add your child’s account, in order to ensure that it remains safe. The practice is certainly slightly intrusive, but it would be the closest thing to parental controls. However, it may well be that parents do not need to reach that point. Indeed, the latest WhatsApp beta brings another very good news.

You will finally be able to use WhatsApp safely
The beta includes a new feature called “secondary account”, which gives the possibility of linking an existing account to its main account. Once done, the main account holder will be able to select the contacts who can chat with the secondary account. Likewise, only users who are part of the secondary account’s contacts will be able to send it a message.
This way, it will be protected against spam, scams and other unsolicited messages. If the user wishes to modify these parameters, they must first obtain validation from the main account. On the other hand, the main account will not be able to view the conversations of the secondary account, thus maintaining their confidentiality. Especially since end-to-end encryption will of course remain active.
