Authorities have broadened their investigation into the death of a woman whose body was discovered in Werrington on Sunday. A second crime scene is now active at a residential complex approximately half a kilometer from the initial discovery site.

On Monday, officers began a detailed examination of a ground floor unit located on Parkes Avenue, roughly 500 meters from where the woman’s remains where found in a reserve off Irwin Street. A member of the public made the initial discovery.

Detectives were observed entering and exiting the building, conducting door-to-door inquiries with nearby residents. As of yet, the woman has not been formally identified by police.

according to police reports from Sunday, the body was not wrapped. However, investigators are analyzing several items of interest found in proximity to the original crime scene at the reserve.

investigation Details

“There were some items around the body, but not wrapped – so, other clothing items and other rubbish,” Superintendent trent King said at the time.

Superintendent King indicated that the deceased was “perhaps middle-aged” and had been at the location “for a period of time.”

The investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Homicide Squad and the Missing Persons Unit under Strike Force Dowerin. Authorities anticipate that autopsy results will provide greater clarity in the coming days.

Superintendent King informed reporters that it was premature to determine whether the remains exhibited any indications of injury or potential sexual assault.

“We’re hoping, certainly in the next couple of days, through both the post-mortem examination as well as the examination today, that we will have further information,” he stated.
