A Decade of Rugby in Werlte: Lowland Games Go Summer
For ten years, the sport of rugby has thrived in Werlte, Germany. To commemorate this milestone, Werlter Rugby is moving its popular Lowland Games to a summer date. On June 21st, 2025, marking the exact 10-year anniversary of the department’s founding, the games will kick off at 11:00 a.m. at Brökersfehn.
Challenges and Teamwork: What to Expect at the Games
Teams of 6-8 participants will face off in a series of challenges designed to test both skill and strength. These six stations will feature diverse activities, including stacking brackets, rolling tires, and transporting water. These games are designed to foster teamwork and camaraderie, reflecting the core values of rugby.
The Main Event: Pulling Power and Competitive Spirit
adding to the excitement, Christian Schulze, a local Emsland resident, will be bringing his show truck. Around noon, teams will compete to pull the truck in front of the Werlte primary school, showcasing their collective strength. This event promises to be a highlight of the day.
Defending Champions and Club Pride
Beyond the station challenges, teams, often sporting their club jerseys, will compete directly against each other before the awards ceremony. This year,the badminton department of SV Sparta Werlte will be defending their title,earned after the youth coaches of the footballers secured the overall victory in the previous games. The competition is expected to be fierce, with teams vying for bragging rights and the coveted championship.
