The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Madurodismissed this Tuesday that his United States counterpart, Donald Trump, order to cancel diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement with the South American country, as reported by the newspaper The New York Times.

“They spread the news that they do not have diplomatic relations with us, nor do we with you; that You don’t have diplomatic channels with us, neither do we with you.“said the Chavista president in a meeting with the ambassadors of Russia, China and other allied countries, broadcast by the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
The head of state assured, without going into details, that his Government has had “some means of communication” with the US Executive.
However, he expressed: “The day we don’t have it, we don’t have it, period.”
In that sense, Maduro said that Venezuela “does not depend” on the “gringos (Americans)”but of “his own effort, his own love and his own people.”
Caracas and Washington have not had diplomatic relations since 2019, when the US, in Trump’s first term (2017-2021), recognized the opponent Juan Guaidó as interim president of Venezuela, by rejecting Maduro’s re-election.
This Monday, The New York Times reported that the US president instructed his special envoy, Richard Grenellto stop all rapprochement with Caracas.

The decision would put an end to the efforts that Grenell had led with the Venezuelan Government, aimed at exploring possible negotiations between both countries, indicated the sources cited by the New York newspaper.
According to the report, the presidential order was communicated directly by Trump to Grenell and will be applied immediately, stopping any ongoing diplomatic initiative towards the South American country.
The US maintains at least eight warships and a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine in the Caribbean, as well as more than 4,500 soldiers, under the argument of combating drug trafficking, but Maduro assures that it is an attempt to promote “a change of regime.”
This same Tuesday, Maduro reported that those responsible for planning an attack against the US Embassy in Caracas They are located in the North American country, whose “names, surnames and location,” he said, the Trump Administration already has thanks to the efforts, he added, of his chief negotiator, the Chavista deputy Jorge Rodríguez.
