A getaway to Flanders for a guaranteed change of scenery!
- Escape to Belgian Flanders
If you want to go elsewhere while remaining close, Flanders has beautiful things to offer. Let’s move to the Belgian side, for a guaranteed change of scenery, while remaining close to Lille. The “Venice of the North” Bruges has some lovely surprises in store for you for a romantic getaway, but also Ghent, as dynamic by day as by night. For heritage lovers, Ypres and Kortrijk will make you dizzy with their majestic finery and tasty local specialties. Finally, the Belgian coast has that “little something” that still attracts northerners, especially this popular destination… All you have to do is choose!
- Beautiful walks and tasty meals in French Flanders
The North is Lille, but also Flanders. And the department hides some pretty gems to discover for a day or a weekend. For example Bailleul, with its undeniable charm! This typical Flanders town is an architectural marvel, marked by its history and various influences. There is a lot to see in its city center, and thematic heritage walks are offered!
Another town in Flanders to (re)discover without moderation: Bergues, which has become a real tourist destination. Many northerners only know this town and its specialties on screen. This Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to go there!
- A narrated and taste-filled stroll at the Museum of Flanders
A notable event is announced for this Valentine’s Day, by the Departmental Museum of Flanders, located in Cassel. The museum team worked with Eugène Hobraiche, starred chef of the Haut Bonheur de la Table restaurant, and Nathalie Grave, storyteller, to offer lovers a unique taste and story journey, inspired by works from the museum’s collection. See you on February 13 and 14 for a visit which should leave, as the museum writes, “an imprint on the soul as well as on the taste buds”. To book this visit, offered both evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and priced at 15 euros per person, you must call: 03 59 73 45 59. Beyond the museum, if you don’t yet know the area, know that Cassel is worth the detour!
This is enough to give you some ideas.
