The senior Senator of the United States (US) from the Democratic Party seeks to prevent President Donald Trump from using luxury aircraft offered by Qatar to be officially used as an Air Force One presidential aircraft.
Chuck Schumer who is the leader of the Democratic Party minority in the US Senate, as reported AFPTuesday (20/5/2025), introducing a Bernama Legal Plan (bill) Presidential Airlift Security Act On Monday (5/19) local time.
The bill will prohibit the Pentagon or the US Department of Defense using taxpayers’ money to modify any aircraft that were previously owned by foreign governments, to be used as US presidential aircraft.

The bill marked the latest step in a series of protests by the Democratic Party to Trump’s decision to receive a giving of a Jumbo Boeing 747-8 worth US $ 400 million (Rp 6.5 trillion), which was offered free of charge by the Qatar royal family.
Qatar’s offer raises constitutional questions and large ethics, as well as security concerns about the use of aircraft donated by foreign governments to be used as a very sensitive Air Force One.
Trump has denied the existence of ethical problems related to aircraft reception from Qatar, by saying the same “stupid” if the US government refuses the free aircraft giving.
“Donald Trump has shown many times that he will betray the American people and the position of President if that means filling his own pocket,” Schumer said in his statement.
“Not only will it take billions of dollars of taxpayers to try to modify and secure this aircraft, but there is absolutely no modification that can guarantee its safety,” he said.
