US-Iran Talks: New Negotiations This Week

by Archynetys World Desk

According to information from the government in Washington this evening, the USA wants to negotiate with Iran in Geneva on Thursday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi had previously promised another round of negotiations with the United States in a few days.

As the US continued its military buildup in the region, Iran promised a “full force” response to an attack.

USA is apparently preparing an attack

The USA and Iran are currently negotiating the controversial Iranian nuclear program – but there has been no tangible progress so far. There are fears that US President Donald Trump will instead launch a military strike against the leadership in Tehran.

Last week he gave the country a deadline of early March to conclude an agreement. According to media reports, preparations are already well underway in Washington for specific strikes against Iran’s leadership.

Iran promises retaliation

Iranian Foreign Office spokesman Esmail Baghaei emphasized that his country would respond to a “limited attack” by the USA like any other state “with full force as part of its right to self-defense”.

Meanwhile, the US Navy’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, entered Souda Bay on Crete. Washington had recently significantly increased its military presence in the region, including with the aircraft carrier “USS Abraham Lincoln”. In addition, there are now additional warships, air defense systems and fighter aircraft in the region.
