US-Caribbean War Threat: History & Context

by Archynetys World Desk

The CLACSO Steering Committee expresses its deep concern and alert about the danger that looms over the region following the advance of the interventionist actions of the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and all of Latin America and the Caribbean. This episode of aggression with threats to the sovereign maritime and air space, and which poses an incursion by land, generates a dangerous escalation of war with unforeseeable consequences, violating the fundamental principles of international law, and the sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people.

Under the pseudo-flag of the “anti-drug fight”, a narrative has been constructed that seeks to legitimize interventions and coercive measures with the aim of taking over the energy resources and trade routes owned by Venezuela and the people of the region.

For this reason, CLACSO calls for the activation of international mechanisms, respect for international law and the solidarity of peoples to guarantee the end of this dangerous war threat of invasion.
