by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Uppsala municipality’s planning of Rosendal is the best in the country. The jury for Sweden’s Architects’ Plan Prize praises the municipality for a high level of ambition that lasts all the way, from idea to built result. The plan prize was awarded at the Architecture Gala in Skellefteå on March 26.

– When architects have a clear role in urban development, it becomes more than rolling out a construction carpet. This is evident in the winner Uppsala, which, with its clear game plan for the city’s construction players, is a role model for Planners Sweden, says Sveriges Arkitekters chairman, architect SAR/MSA Emina Kovacic.

The municipality shows impressive self-confidence in the practice of urban construction, from early land purchases to urban planning and implementation.

From the jury’s winner’s motivation

The Rosendal district is a large-scale planning project, extended in both time and physical size. The municipality shows the importance of long-term perspective, leadership and clear priorities, among other things through an architect-dense organization. Uppsala municipality has had an architect from its own administration, Erik Giudice Architects, Tengbom, Sweco, WSP and Karavan landscape.

The following have been the responsible architects: landscape architect Maija Tammela, plan and construction manager, architects SAR/MSA Torsten Livion, Malin Danielsson and Erik Giudice, architect MSA Thomas Stoll, landscape architect LAR/MSA Kristina Ehrstedt, plan architect PAR Sara Lindh and architect Ulla-Britt Wickström.
