Netflix reemerged at the top of Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart during the week of July 14 courtesy of crime drama series Untamed.
Despite making its debut Thursday, July 17, Untamed still managed to rack up 2.104 billion viewing minutes, with the adults 50 and older demographic contributing heavily to its explosive start, accounting for 64% of viewing time.
Starring Eric Bana, Untamed was also a favorite among Hispanic audiences, who made up 22% of the six-episode series’ total viewing audience.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, only two titles had more than 1 billion viewing minutes, and Netflix took up seven positions in the chart, with one of those having shared distribution rights. Interestingly, Hulu didn’t have any titles in the chart this week.
Netflix-acquired series Sullivan’s Crossing remained in second place for the second consecutive week with 1.356 billion minutes viewed. The Canadian romantic drama series was followed by animated feature KPop Demon Hunters, also from Netflix, which jumped five spots to land in third place with 949 million viewing minutes.
Last week’s top titlePeacock’s Love Island USA, tumbled down to fourth place with 931 million viewed minutes. It was sandwiched by another animated title, Disney’s Bluey, which rounded out the top five with 896 million viewing minutes.
Netflix resurfaced courtesy of Blindspot landing at No. 6 with 890 million viewing minutes, closely trailed by Prime Video’s Ballard in seventh place, at 886 million viewing minutes.
It was followed by Tyler Perry movie Madea’s Destination Wedding in eighth place and Animal Kingdom in ninth place, both airing on Netflix with 818 million and 768 million minutes viewed, respectively.
The final spot in the chart belonged to Netflix/Paramount+ shared title Paw Patrol, which had 715 million viewing minutes.
