Loop Technology’s IdentifEye system uses 3D vision to label random items at up to 2,400 labels per hour

A UK industrial automation specialist, Loop Technology, is expanding into the US with the opening of a subsidiary located in Seattle, Washington. Loop, whose headquarters are Dorchester, Dorset, has an expertise in machine vision, motion control and industrial robotics.

“We have been considering expansion into the United States for several years and now it feels the time is right,” says Loop Technology US CEO, Alun Reece. “I love the American approach to technological development alongside the desire to succeed. I am really looking forward to strengthening existing relationships and building new ones in America.”

Loop’s US presence will facilitate access to the North American market for its technologies which include the FibreLine system that offers automated high-speed composite preforming and a new approach to manufacturing composite structures. It was originally developed to produce composite aerospace parts, but the technology can also be applied in other industries such as drones and wind turbines.

Other technologies that Loop plans to offer to US customers include:

  • laser cleaning systems and servicesincluding its LoopClean automated cleaning system;
  • its RoboMach high-accuracy robotic machining system that automates milling, trimming, cutting and drilling operations for fabricating aerospace and automotive components, and processing architectural and construction components; and
  • the IdentifEye automated labelling system which uses 3D vision to label randomly shaped and positioned packages at rates of up to 2,400 labels per hour.

Technology Limited was founded in 1998 and currently employs more than 80 people. It has completed more than 220 projects.
