Trump, who will chair the council himself, named his special envoy Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law Jared Kushner and World Bank President Ajay Bang among its seven founding members, the White House said in a statement.
Trump announced the creation of a “peace council” on Thursday, a key element of the second phase of the US-backed Gaza peace plan. “I can say with certainty that it is the greatest and most prestigious council that has ever been created, at any time, in any place,” Trump declared.
