Trump & Kimmel: NY Protests Erupt Over Suspension Remarks

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of New York to protest against the Jimmy Kimmel’s political satire program suspensiondecision made by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) chain.

With banners that said “Kimmel stays, Trump must leave”, The protesters denounced what they consider a direct attack on freedom of expression in the country.

The controversy climbed after Former President Donald Trump threatened to withdraw the licenses from television chains that he considers criticism of his administration.

In recent statements, Trump dismissed the presenter’s talent by stating that “that guy had no talent” and said that “The chains were against me 97% and I still won”.

ABC’s decision caused a wave of solidarity to Kimmel by renowned comedians and television figures, including Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewartwho defended the right of humorist to express themselves freely.

Even the former president Barack Obama pronounced Through his X account, highlighting that “Freedom of expression is the heart of democracy and must be defended, whether the speaker is Charlie Kirk or Jimmy Kimmel, supporters or opponents of Maga”.

For its part, Brendan Carr, president of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), warned in a podcast that the situation could have regulatory repercussions.

Companies can find a way to change their behavior or there will be an additional job for the FCC, ”he said, leaving open the possibility that the commission takes actions to prevent the program from continuing in the air.
