Former NBA star Ricky Rubio, known for his exceptional passing skills, recently shared a message reflecting on his basketball journey.

The Spanish point guard, who played six seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, took to X last week to express his thoughts.

In a post on June 5, Rubio stated: “… I took this year to reflect on my career and my life, and I’ve realized that if I’ve gotten to where I am today, it’s not because of the assists I’ve given, but because of the assists I’ve received.This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a thank you to all the people who have helped me along the way.”

A follow-up post on June 6 read: “… thanks to everyone.We follow! Thank you all. We continue! Thank you all. Let’s keep going!”

The Timberwolves responded to Rubio’s message with their own post on June 6, writing: “thank you for all the memories, Ricky 💙”

Rubio had a second stint with the Timberwolves later in his career. During his time in Minnesota, he averaged 10.1 points,4.1 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 2.0 steals in 421 games, shooting 37.7% from the field and 31.3% from three-point range.

According to Jackson Lloyd: “Ricky Rubio gave Timberwolves fans a reason to watch when there weren’t many reasons to watch.”

Rubio was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He played 12 seasons in the NBA, with stints on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, and the Timberwolves.
