Meta is exploring new routes for Threads users to share extensive text in the form of text within a single post. Recently, several users have reported the appearance of a characteristic called “attach text”, which allows you to insert significant portions of text into a single publication. This functionality, although it has not been officially announced by goal, resembles the “articles” function available for premium+ subscribers on other platforms.
According to reports, this new functionality would enable Threads users to include longer fragments in their publications, in addition to offering basic format options. The characteristic has been described as an opportunity for users to be more creative, allowing them to share deep thoughts, book extracts and news in a format that best suits their communicative intentions.
Although the function has not yet been widely implemented, it seems that anyone can access to see these long texts that have already been shared. In mobile devices, these attachments open in a full screen view, facilitating navigation through extensive content. In desktop versions, the text is presented in a dedicated window, providing an adequate space for a more enjoyable reading.
Although the future of this characteristic is not known, it has been confirmed that Meta is performing active tests for its implementation. The possibility of including written content directly directly in Threads could transform the experience of creators and content editors, who could benefit from exceeding the current limit of 500 characters.
A relevant factor to consider is that, according to some previous reports, a large part of Threads users tends not to interact with the links in the publications. Therefore, offering greater flexibility in this aspect could be beneficial. However, this also raises the risk of the platform becoming more insular, limiting the exchange of content to other services. In addition, it has been observed that the posts with text attachments cannot be shared in networks that operate in the Fediverse, which could make the goal efforts to be an interoperable platform with other systems such as Mastodon.
The information presented is based on developments to date of original publication, on August 28, 2025, and there is no subsequent updates until this date.
