JAKARTA – Telkomsel has launched the implementation of the Huawei RuralCow solution on Legundi Island, Pesawaran District, South Lampung, to transform digital access on Indonesia’s remote islands.
This innovation marks an important moment in rural connectivity, providing an affordable and stable 4G/LTE broadband network for remote Indonesian islands.
The Huawei RuralCow solution is dedicated to difficult to access areas, it is able to integrate the fronthaul unit and the radio, which eliminates the need for a traditional backhaul, a baseband unit and an extensive power supply.
Its fast, low-cost application model makes it ideal for Universal Service Obligation (USO) areas, providing a scalable roadmap to realize digital inclusion across Indonesia’s 17,000 islands.
With the operation of this new solution, residents of the island of Legundi can access reliable 4G connectivity without the need for additional infrastructure or devices.
“The introduction of RuralCow on Legundi Island shows how technology can have a real impact when it is targeted to those who need it most,” said Telkomsel Vice President of Technology Strategy and Product Development Ronald Limoa.
With this solution, Ronald hopes to be able to deliver technology that has a social impact, democratizing access to technology so that every Indońesi, especially those living in remote areas, can rise above new opportunities in education, livelihoods and public services.
As the leading digital telecom company in Indonesia, Telkomsel is always committed to improving customer experience and innovation in all regions, despite geographic challenges.
Through strategic partnerships and technologies such as Huawei’s RuralCow, Telkomsel ensures that people on the most remote islands can fully participate in the digital economy.
