La Paz, BCS.-The government of Baja California Sur launched the National Voluntary and Altruistic Blood Donation Day 2025, with the purpose of strengthening the recruitment of safe units for patients who require transfusions, highlighted the Secretary of Health, Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro, emphasizing that these actions directly contribute to saving lives.
The event, held at the UABCS Poliforo, was attended by the director of the National Center for Blood Transfusion (CNTS), Emmanuel Fernández Sánchez, as well as the undersecretary general of government, Claudia Elena Meza de la Toba, who recognized the state effort to promote altruistic donation in the population.
In this sense, Guluarte Castro recalled that, in 2025, the state government delivered a new mobile unit to the State Blood Transfusion Center (CETS), a tool that has allowed the campaigns to be expanded in shopping malls and universities, facilitating extramural collections and bringing this service closer to more citizens.
Likewise, he reported that the CETS has carried out more than 70 extramural collections so far this year, strengthening the supply of blood products used in emergencies and in the care of serious diseases, such as leukemia.
In turn, he specified that, in 2025, the CETS has captured around five thousand units of safe blood, of which more than nine percent come from voluntary donors who came with no other interest than supporting the recovery of another person’s health.
For his part, Fernández Sánchez highlighted that, although Baja California Sur is the national headquarters of this day, simultaneous activities are carried out in all entities of the country with the goal of capturing five thousand units of safe blood nationwide.
With these actions, the State government reaffirms its commitment to the health of the population and consolidates itself as a national reference in the promotion of altruistic blood donation.
