ASUS, one of the largest hardware manufacturers in the world, makes a large strategic change: over 90% of the production of PCs and motherboard consumer has been relocated from China to factories in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. The decision comes against the background of commercial tensions between the United States and China and the risk of additional sanctions or tariffs.

The move was confirmed at a meeting with investors, where company representatives said that relocation reduces ASUS dependence on the Chinese market and provides more flexibility in the face of geopolitical changes. In addition, extension plans also include Enterprise segment, which is to be produced gradually outside China.

US gets new stakes for hardware manufacturers

Another important step for ASUS is to initiate the production of PCs and hardware directly on the United States, starting with the last quarter of this year. This move comes after the Trump administration has imposed 145% import fees in April for goods from China. Subsequently, the rates were reduced to 30%, but the impact on the industry was major.

The producers were forced to implement complex logistics schemes and to import massively equipment before the new rates enter into force. Although the situation has stabilized, with better prices and availability on the market, companies remain cautious and look for safe alternatives for production.
