Florida women’s basketball has its new head coach.
The Gators hired Rhode Island coach Tammi Reiss to lead the Gators program, the USA Today Network reported Monday. She’s the 12th head coach in team history and replaces Kelly Rae Finley, who was fired March 9 after five seasons on the job.
Reiss, a native of the Catskills Region of New York, played collegiate ball at Virginia from 1989-1992. She became a three-time All-American and teamed up with legendary South Carolina coach Dawn Staley to lead the Cavaliers to three Final Fours.
