The first edition of Swim to Fight Cancer Weert will definitely go ahead. During the New Year’s dive at the Blauwe Meertje it was announced that the event will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The organization is working together with Stadstriathlon Weert. This partner now has extensive experience with sporting events. This provides a solid basis for a safe and well-organized event in Weert.
Attention to cancer and research

In the Netherlands, more than 124,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year. This amounts to an average of fourteen diagnoses per hour. Almost everyone is affected by this directly or indirectly. Under the motto Love life. Fight cancer. Swim to Fight Cancer wants to get people moving. At the same time, the event shows that joint efforts can contribute to more scientific research.
Recreational swimming event
Swim to Fight Cancer is a recreational swimming event in an urban environment. Participants swim individually or in teams. They are sponsored in advance by family, friends, colleagues and neighbors. All proceeds go to Fight Cancer. This foundation raises funds for scientific cancer research and prevention through KWF Kankerbestrijding.
Registration open and call for volunteers
Registration for Swim to Fight Cancer Weert is open via www.swimtofightcancer.nl/weert. You can currently participate at the early duck rate. Everyone can participate. The organization is also looking for volunteers and sponsors. Volunteers play an important role, both in the preparation and on the day itself. They provide support at the start and finish, along the course and behind the scenes.
Companies also welcome
Companies are also invited to participate. This can be done, for example, through a business team. Colleagues then go into the water together and get sponsored. In this way, team building, social involvement and regional visibility are connected.
Working together towards June 13, 2026
Together with participants, volunteers, sponsors and local partners, we work towards a sporting day with impact. On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Weert will show what is possible when people work together to fight cancer.
