STOCKHOLM – A highly anticipated concert by Swedish rapper Yasin,whose full name is Yasin Mahamoud,was canceled on Friday due to security concerns and arrests made in connection to an alleged assassination plot. The performance was scheduled to be his first in Sweden in nine years.

Yasin, described by the press agency TT as “one of the most controversial, but also the most influential Swedish rappers,” has garnered millions of streams on Spotify and has frequently appeared on Swedish music charts, according to AFP.

In 2021, Yasin was sentenced to ten months in prison for his involvement in the kidnapping of fellow artist Einar, who was later shot and killed that same year.

According to Aftonbladet, during friday’s planned concert, police arrested two young men suspected of plotting an assassination attempt against the rapper.
