Personnel shortage at the German record champions. After Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig, the third keeper Sven Ulreich is also out injured.
Setback for FC Bayern Munich. Keeper Sven Ulreich tore a muscle bundle in his right adductor during the Bundesliga game in Leverkusen, the record champions announced in a statement.
“The goalkeeper will be out for the time being,” said the Munich team, but they did not give an exact duration of the outage.
“I felt a little something. I hope nothing bad,” Bayern’s number three explained in the “DAZN” interview after the final whistle. In the final phase he was no longer able to take the goal kicks, but held on until the end.
Urbig and newer not yet fit
This means FCB is running out of goalkeepers. Manuel Neuer is still suffering from a torn muscle fiber in his calf, Jonas Urbig is out of action with a concussion after his collision with Atalanta striker Nikola Kristovic. Now the third keeper, Ulreich, is no longer able to play.
But who will be in Bayern’s box next Wednesday in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker)?
If Urbig is not ready for action just a week after his concussion, the record champions would currently only have 16-year-old Leonard Prescott as their last option.
The teenager was already on the bench in the first leg against Bergamo this week and in the Bundesliga against Leverkusen on Saturday.
