Present in Portugal since 1995, the company has been growing and it was necessary to build a new platform to accompany the company’s development.
STEF, a company that operates in the transport and logistics sector, inaugurated this Tuesday, 24th, a new logistics platform in Maia, with an investment of 13 million euros. Thus, the company now has 14 infrastructures spread from north to south of the country.
Present in Portugal since 1995, the company has been growing and it was necessary to build a new platform to accompany the company’s development.
With the new platform, the company intends to accompany players in the agri-food industry north of the Douro River and create opportunities for them to develop in Portugal and the rest of Spain. “Maia is very well located, because it is close to the northern agri-food industry and consumers, therefore a very important place to build bridges”, says Mickael Tomas, general director of STEF in Portugal.
The general director states that “the platform we present today is another step in the trajectory of ambition and investment in Portugal, allowing us to provide better responses to an increasingly demanding value chain, in addition to continuing to be an active and central part in the development of the restaurant and food sector in Portugal and Europe”.
The facilities will be more modern, with more technology and more sustainable, with photovoltaic panels that cover 15 to 20% of the platform’s annual energy consumption.
In 2025, the French group reached a turnover of 5.1 billion euros. The company has more than 26 thousand employees and more than 305 facilities in eight European countries.
